Serena Williams

Serena Williams is an American professional Tennis Star. She was born on 26th September 1981 in Saginaw. His mother is Oracene Price and his father was Richard Williams. She started playing tennis at the age of four in California.

Serena Williams’s Journey

At the age of nine, his parents moved from Crompton to West Palm Beach, Florida. So that she can join the tennis coaching academy of Rick Macci. Williams’s father wanted her daughter not to play until she is Sixteen. They don’t want her to participate in professional tournaments and wanted her to focus on her studies. But at Fourteen, She decided to start playing tennis professionally but due to age restrictions, she couldn’t do this. She also filed a case against the Women’s tour but took it back on her parents’ request. Then in 1995, she started her professional career at Bell Challenge in Quebec. She lost it and she didn’t play in any tournament in 1996. She again lost in three tournaments in qualifying rounds in 1997.

She kept playing and finished in 1997 ranked No. 99. She won her first professional title in doubles at Oklahoma City with Venus, her sister. In 2002, she won the Wimbledon championships, It’s the oldest tennis tournament and she won it for the first time and then she became No.1 for the first time. She became the third African American to hold this rank. In 2002, She won 6 matches but was defeated by Maria Sharapova, and then Williams dropped from the Top 10 rank which she was continuously holding since 1999.

Serena Williams married Alexis Opnania. He is co-founder of Reddit. They got married on 6 November 2017 in New Orleans. In 2017, she won the Australian Open while she was pregnant for 8 weeks. She has one daughter named Olympia Alexis.
